What we collect
If you subscribe, we send your email address and the place you subscribed from to Overstory Media’s newsroom system. If you post to the community board or write to us about an event, advertisement, correction, or news tip, we receive the information you include.
What we measure
Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights measure visits, page performance, story views and use of the sign-up flow. Our optional PostHog integration is currently disabled. If enabled, it may store an identifier in your browser so repeat visits can be counted consistently.
We do not send your email address to these analytics tools. Our sign-up analytics records that a sign-up happened and where the form appeared, not the address entered.
Who helps us run the paper
The site is hosted on Vercel. The paper is managed through Overstory Media’s newsroom system and email is delivered by Resend. Community-board and event data may be stored in Supabase. These services receive the information needed to provide their part of the service.
Your choices
Every edition includes an unsubscribe link. To ask about, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, write to privacy@thewestshore.ca. If you enable Do Not Track in a supported browser, PostHog will not collect analytics from that browser.

The Westshore is published by Overstory Media Group (opens in a new tab) and covers Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, Sooke, the Highlands, and View Royal. For anything other than privacy, write to tips@thewestshore.ca.
