Before you load the car, check which side of the municipal boundary you live on. Langford and Colwood both offer free yard-waste drop-offs this November, but the hours, vehicle rules and accepted loads differ.
Langford: three FireSmart Saturdays
November 7, 14 and 21, 2026 · 11am to 3pm
2955 Sooke Lake Road
The temporary site is for Langford residents. Bring proof of residence and use a passenger or residential vehicle; commercial and oversized vehicles are excluded.
Pruned or fallen branches, dead plants and invasive vegetation are accepted. Keep invasives and unchippable material, including leaves and grass, separate from branches. Household rubbish, construction debris and non-vegetative items cannot go in the load.
For a combined strata load or help participating without a vehicle, contact Langford Fire Rescue at 250-478-9555 before travelling.

Colwood: four November dates, longer hours
November 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2026 · 8:30am to 4pm
3300 Wishart Road, Public Works Yard below City Hall
This free service is for Colwood residents, and staff may ask for proof. Bring leaves, grass clippings and branches no thicker than four inches. Separate leaves from branches and clippings before arriving.
A contractor working for a Colwood resident needs a letter with the resident’s name, address, phone number and expected number of truckloads.
Do not assume every invasive plant is accepted. Check the city’s list before adding one to your load. The next December dates are the 5th and 19th.

The Saturday to watch
November 28 is listed for Colwood, but not for Langford’s pop-up. An extra week in one municipality does not give residents of the other access to its service.
This is the autumn 2026 schedule, checked against the municipal pages on October 31. Confirm any service changes with the city before setting out.
